Welcome to ArtWell

I am a visual artist, calligrapher and graphic designer who also: writes articles, works as an artist in healthcare settings, designs and offers creativity trainings for professionals in healthcare and other fields, and designs and produces activity kits and games (see webshop) for use in elder and dementia care.
The solitary hours spent in my quiet sunny studio working with oil pastels, mixed media, calligraphy etc, are the source for the inspiration I draw on to move out into the community and do all my other activities.
The red thread running through all of these areas is championing creativity and art as ways to live a more enchanted, connected, and committed sort of life. This rather than the commercial art world is the context for the paintings and drawings I make and sell on this site.

NEWS
PERSONAL CREATIVITY WORKSHOPS in Holland: Two friends of mine, Aafke and Martine, have kindly taken on the organisation of my creativity workshops. They have been and continue to be an enormous support in holding these day long events. Participants can count on an entire day of creative inspiration, concentrated work with beautiful art materials, excellent food and good company. The (primarily) women who attend these workshops come to give themselves time to explore their creative side and discover new directions in their lives. So far the feedback has been that people have experienced lasting positive effects ranging from simply taking out the materials more often, to actually taking the step to starting their own creative business. The next workshop is in May and the theme is 'Visual Journalling'. More details and date will be announced here. For photos and a report on the last workshop see February in the archives on my blog

This year, the Journal of Dementia Care has published 3 feature articles of mine on Creativity and dementia care.

Other news: Every two weeks another of piece of my art will be featured here .
